Welcome to Startup Story. I am Rob McNealy your host. We’re here today and we have a fantastic show for you. We are here to inspire you and motivate you to become successful entrepreneurs. That is our mantra here at the show and we take it very, very seriously by bringing on authors, great co-hosts, and in general we have a great Web presence where we can answer a lot of questions to help you start your own business.
This show is about freedom. It is about liberating yourself from the evil corporations that are dominating this country. It’s about being able to master your own time and fulfilling your destiny. If it sounds a little cheesy-but it’s real though. Cheesy statements like that come from somewhere, and honestly folks I really believe that running your own business really makes you a happier person. Is it scary? Sure. Are there risks? Sure.
Well, anyway, I would like to hear from people out there today. So, please give us a call: 303-713-7600. That’s 303-713-7600. You can find us on the Web at startupstoryradio.com. For those of you who might be a little shy, feel free to IM the show. Just go to AOL instant messenger and you can just type in Startup Story and log in, and ask me for cheese poofs. Whatever you want to do. Ask a question and we’ll be sure to answer it.
Today I would like to welcome back Erin Weed of Girls Fight Back. She is our guest co-host this week. She just made me laugh last week and we decided to bring her back, and for a secondary purpose-my wife is about to have a baby and in case the water breaks while I’m on the air and I need to run.
I am going to instantaneously figure out how to run a radio show.
You know what? They gave me a microphone. It’s not that hard. So Erin, what did you do this week? How are things going with Girls Fight Back?
For our listeners who were here last week, they heard that I was about to kick off my fall tour. Basically what I do is roam around the country and I give Girls Fight Back seminars, which are essentially personal safety and self-defense seminars. I kicked off my fall tour in lovely Troy, Alabama, which–you wanna know how to get to Troy, Alabama? In case you’re planning your next vacation there.
No. How do you get to Troy, Alabama?
You get up at four in the morning and then you take a 6:30 flight. Then you fly to Atlanta. Then you get off that three-hour flight and you get a rental car. Then you get in that rental car. Then you drive three hours south to Troy. Then you take a really quick shower and suddenly you’re on stage in front of like 500 people. It’s really fabulous.
So, do you stay the night or do you fly back and drive that all in reverse in all the same day?
Of course I wanted to maximize my time in Troy, Alabama, so of course I stayed the night and I went to Taco Bell for dinner and it was really awesome. In all seriousness, it was an interesting place. We had a good time and the women were awesome and a great way to kick off the tour. I’m back and I’m so psyched to be here.
