Jake Shannon’s Bio

Jake Shannon first started using hypnotism back in 1989 as a teenage cancer patient when his oncologist he learn self-hypnosis in an effort to help mitigate the pain associated with the chemotherapy and radiation treatments. In the twenty years hence, Jake has refined his brand of hypnotism and critical thinking into a powerful proprietary system for helping people. He credits it for his successes across a broad domain of endeavors.

In 1995, Jake received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1995. This is where Jake began his study of rhetoric and the impact of language upon culture. In 2002, Jake earned his Master of Science degree in Financial Engineering from Golden Gate University. During his time in quantitative finance as Assistant Vice President at Indymac Bank and its subsidiary, Financial Freedom, Jake helped create one of the most widely-used reverse mortgage servicing rights valuation models in the industry.

On the strength of his decade long deliberate research on the sport of Catch-As-Catch-Can wrestling with primary sources (as evidenced at his site Scientific Wrestling), ECW Press is publishing his book ‘SAY UNCLE: Catch-As-Catch-Can Wrestling and the Roots of Ultimate Fighting, Pro-Wrestling, & Modern Grappling’ in early 2011. In addition, Mr. Shannon is also the author of ‘TEA-O-CONNED: The Hijacking of Liberty in America’ and ‘ANOMALY: Revolutionary Knowledge in Everyday Life’.

Jake lives in Salt Lake City with his wife and two children where serves as the Vice-Chairman of the Libertarian Party of Utah, and in 2010 he campaigned as the Libertarian candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in Utah’s Third Congressional District. Jake has a regular guest on political talk radio across the country and travels widely both as a speaker and as a performing hypnotist.
