Matt Arnold’s Bio
Although born in West Point, NY Matt Arnold is a 5th generation Coloradan. He grew up in Colorado and overseas, where he returned and spent several years as an adult, as a result of which he speaks three languages with some proficiency. A special highlight of his overseas experience was witnessing the Fall of the Berlin Wall firsthand during his years in Germany.
Matt is a military veteran, and continues to serve in the Colorado Army National Guard, currently holding the rank of Captain. As an additional (volunteer) duty, he serves as the commander of the Search and Extraction element for Colorado’s NGCERFP (National Guard CBRNE Emergency Response Force Package – essentially, an Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) team to assist civilian first responders in the event of a disaster or terrorist attack such as 9/11). Other assignments in the COARNG have included a tour in Afghanistan (Sept 2002 – Apr 2003), New Orleans (Operation Katrina III, hurricane relief/disaster recovery Oct-Nov 2005) and security and emergency response planning for the 2008 DNC (Jan-Aug 2008).
Matt Arnold is currently the executive director and primary spokesman for the grassroots effort to restore accountability to Colorado’s judiciary, Clear The Bench Colorado. Matt launched the effort following the Colorado Supreme Court’s violation of the Colorado Constitution, citizen’s rights under TABOR, and their duty to uphold the rule of law in the infamous “Mill Levy Tax Freeze” case. Since April 2009, Matt has tirelessly sought to educate Colorado citizens about their right to demand accountability of our judicial branch officeholders (at the ballot box and beyond) and raise awareness of the critical role played by our third branch of government in upholding or (more predominantly of late) violating our constitutional rights and the rule of law (contrasted with our current state of judicial tyranny). Although Colorado citizens failed to exercise their right to hold unjust justices accountable in 2010, awareness is building in Colorado and nationwide about the growing and unchecked power exercised by our out-of-control judiciary – so the battle to inform and educate continues.
