About Rob McNealy

Rob McNealy
Personal
Rob McNealy is a small business, entrepreneurship, and startup junkie. His passion is using social media to evangelize about small businesses, and coaching entrepreneurs on his Startup Story Radio podcast and blog.
Rob grew up with a strong work ethic, from a hardworking, blue collar, middle class family in Detroit. His father was an inner city Detroit high school teacher and his mother was a shipping clerk. Rob started working at age twelve running paper routes, and worked all the way through high school and college. Rob put himself through college working in restaurants during the school year, and working construction jobs while on summer breaks.
Rob married his wife, Kristie McNealy, MD, in 2000 and moved to Colorado in 2001 so Kristie could attend medical school at the University of Colorado. Rob went to business school at night at Colorado State University. Upon graduation, both Rob and Kristie loved Colorado so much, they decided to stay and make Colorado their permanent home. Together, they homeschool their four children: Riley and Camden (girls), and Sawyer and Maverick (boys).
Education
Rob earned a Bachelor of Science degree (BS) in Geography and Marketing from Central Michigan University. He majored in Landuse Planning and Environmental Analysis, and minored in Marketing. He also earned a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Colorado State University.
Rob believes that “education is important for the development of a strong community.”
Professional
Rob has a diverse background with more than two decades of proven experience in marketing, management and sales. Besides spending many years in the corporate world working for companies in the construction, automotive, aviation and engineering industries as a project manager and programmer, he has built several small businesses. Currently, Rob is the Executive Vice President of Sales for Atlas Medical Devices, a medical device company which he started with his wife, Kristie McNealy, MD. Rob also founded Contrived Media, a social media marketing company, which specializes in training large companies how to engage their customers by using social media.
Rob and Kristie are both ambitious entrepreneurs and enjoy the flexibility of working for themselves so they can spend more time raising their three children and enjoying life and the Colorado lifestyle.
